North Western France at 1:320, 000, 2017 edition, in a series of touring maps designed by the IGN to make route planning easier by presenting several regions together on one double-sided, indexed map; plus 16 enlargements of environs of main cities. Coverage extends south to La Rochelle & east to Paris & Bourges, but PLEASE NOTE that the north-western tip of the country around Calais, Boulogne & Lille is not included (see our coverage image). The bulk of the area covered by the map is on one side, with Brittany on the reverse where this title also provides enlargements showing the environs of Paris, Amiens, Angers, Bourges, Brest, Caen, La Mans, Le Havre, Lorient – Larmor-Plage, Nantes, Orléans, Poitiers, Quimper, Rennes, Rouen & Tours. IGN’s Touring Series of four maps conveniently fills the gap between IGN’s general road maps presenting the whole country on one sheet & their Regional Series at 1:250, 000 dividing France into its 19 administrative region. Colouring of the road network highlights the motorways, distinguishing between the toll & free sections & showing junction numbers, toll gates, services & rest areas, plus driving distances which are also marked on main connecting regional routes. The maps include other regional & selected smaller local roads. Railway lines are shown with stations & local airports are marked. Symbols indicate numerous places of interest. Topography is indicated by relief shading, with colouring for woodlands, boundaries of national/regional parks, & plenty of names of mountain ranges, valleys, peaks & other topographic features. The maps have no geographical coordinates, include a comprehensive index, & have English language map legend. Each title also

Includes::
several enlargements presenting in greater detail the environs of main cities, including road access to the town centre. To see other titles in thie series please click on the series link.

North-Eastern France at 1:500, 000 from Michelin, providing a useful alternative between the publishers’ coverage of the whole country at 1:1, 000, 000 & their regional maps at 1:200, 000. Coverage

Includes::
the Channel ports; extends north into Belgium to include Ypres, Ghent & Brussels; starts in the west at Rouen & the outskirts of Tours; extends south to include the vineyards of Burgundy & south-east to Basel. Enlargements show in greater detail access to & main routes across Paris with its outer suburbs, Amiens, Besançon, Bourges, Châlons-en-Champagne, Dijon, Lille, Metz, Mulhouse, Nancy, Orléans, Reims, Rouen, Strasbourg & Troyes. Compared with Michelin’s general coverage of France at 1M, this 500K series shows substantially more names of smaller towns & villages & more local roads, but they do not indicate locations with entries in Michelin’s Green Guides to French regions. When compared with Michelin’s 200K series, coverage by the 500K maps is less detailed, with fewer locations & local roads, particularly in the built-up areas. Presentation of the road network is also less detailed in indicating details such as road widths, driving distances, steeps gradients, load limits on bridges, etc. The 500K maps do show toll routes, full & partial interchanges, motorway services & rest areas, & highlight scenic routes. Railway lines are included & symbols indicate a selection of places of interest including boundaries of national & regional parks. Latitude & longitude lines are drawn at 30’ intervals. The index is next to the map. Map legend

Includes::
English. Each title also has a distance/driving times table for the area covered by the map, plus several enlargements showing in greater detail access to & main roads across several towns, each accompanied by a QR code for smart phones. France On Two Wheels

For Adam Ruck, France and cycling go together like a rich Camembert and a heady glass of Bordeaux. This book - full of useful details and tips - follows him through six intricately plotted Gallic cycling routes; from Lake Geneva to the Channel, the Mediterranean to the Atlantic, Vichy to Roanne, Paris to Provence, Roanne to the Atlantic, and Burgundy to Spain. Having lived in France in his youth, Adam, now in his fifties, sets out to rediscover a landscape that was once familiar, now forgotten. His journey combines the pleasures of exploring a landscape by bike with the pleasures of exploring the depths and idiosyncrasies of another culture. It is a passionate moment in the British love affair with all things Gallic. Both a practical companion and a story of exploration and
rediscovery, France on Two Wheels offers detailed descriptions of useful routes, stop-off points and watering-holes, along with detours into subjects as varied as wine, Flaubert, windmills, Wodehouse, belfries, battlefields and beer. It is vivid proof that the only way to experience the French countryside is on two wheels.
