The Stanford's Library Map of London & its Suburbs was originally a 24-sheet set of maps covering Victorian London during a period of rapid expansion & improvement. Here the map is presented on CD ROM. Unlike the b/w paper version, in this case the map is a hand coloured version, retaining the original detail, naming streets & marking major buildings. Also an index of over 18, 000 streets & locations is included, with a commentary by Ralph Hyde
- former Keeper of Prints & Maps at the Guildhall Library in the City of London. The map coverage extend out to Highgate, Greenwich, Streatham & Hammersmith. Original scale: 6 to 1 mile.PC Version

The expedition triggered the global rainforest movement & highlighted, for the first time, how rich, diverse & ecologically important rainforests are. But since then, Borneo has gone from being a garden of Eden to a dry monocultural desert, where the traditional way of life of the indigenous people of the rainforests is being slowly eroded. Here, Hanbury-Tenison describes the months he spent in Borneo, using his original diaries & photographs. This is the story of complete immersion in a tribal way of life that is on the cusp of extinction. At its heart is the relationship between Hanbury-Tenison & Nyapun

In one of the most brilliant & intrepid memoirs in recent memory, Emma Larkin tells of the year she spent travelling through Burma, using as a compass the life & work of George Orwell, whom many of Burma`s underground teahouse intellectuals call simply ”the prophet”. In stirring, insightful prose, she provides a powerful reckoning with one of the world`s least free countries. Finding George Orwell in Burma is a brave & revelatory reconnaissance of modern Burma, one of the world`s grimmest & most shuttered dictatorships, where the term ” Orwellian” aptly describes the life endured by the country`s people. This book has come to be regarded as a classic of reportage & travel & a crucial book for anyone interested in Burma & George Orwell. ...
