Mapping at 1:700, 000 extends east to cover Finl&, Baltic States, Pol&, Slovakia, Moldova, Romania, Bulgaria & the Aegean coast of Turkey. Additional section at 1:2, 000, 000 covers the rest of Eastern Europe, extending within Russia beyond Moscow to Kazan’, Volgograd & the Caucasus, plus Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan & Turkey. The main section of the atlas at 1:700, 000 shows the road network including secondary roads, indicating seasonal closures, routes closed to or not recommended for caravans, steep gradients, scenic routes, etc. Railways & main ferry routes are also marked. Symbols indicate various monuments & sights, selected campsites, etc. with places of particular interest highlighted. Topography is well presented by unobtrusive relief shading with plenty of names of mountain ranges, peaks, etc, plus colouring for forested areas; national/natural parks are highlighted. Within Greece & the countries using the Cyrillic alphabet, names of towns & villages are in both Latin & local script; names of topographic features are in the Latin alphabet only. The maps have a latitude/longitude grid at intervals of 30’. Extensive, 150-page index is arranged by country & lists all localities with postcodes. In the less detailed section at 1:2, 000, 000 which extends the coverage eastwards, within Russia, Ukraine & Belarus names of larger & selected smaller towns are in both scripts, with other names in the Latin alphabet only. In Georgia, Armenia & Azerbaijan all place names are in the Latin alphabet. The maps have latitude & longitude lines at 1° intervals & the index is arranged by country. Centres of over 60 capital cities & other main town are presented on street plans at scales around 1:15, 000. Each plan cover one or two pages of the atlas & has a separate street index. Extra plates provide various additional information: EU, Schengen countries, Euro-zone, time zones, main driving regulations, etc. All map legends include English.
