The Epping Forest Challenge Walk is a guidebook to John Merrill’s 21 mile circular challenge walk through Epping Forest. This challenge walk is designed to be completed in a day
- between 7 & 8 hours
- & the route follows good level paths across fields, beside the River Lee Navigation & through Epping Forest. The walk is divided into four stages that range from 4 to 6 miles
- Stage 1: Waltham Abbey to Obelisk farm; Stage 2: Obelisk Farm to Ambresbury Banks; Stage 3: Ambresbury Banks to Chingford Green; & Stage 4: Chingford Green to Waltham Abbey. Each walk section is accompanied by a route map & provides route instructions, walk distance & estimated walk time. Information on public transport, parking facilities, available maps, pubs & cafes & places of notable interest is also provided. There are also sections on how to complete the walk, the countryside code & suggested walking equipment. The guide is accompanied by maps, illustrations & photographs.
