Drawing Parallels encourages us to look at architecture in a new way. Rather than offering conventional views of canonical buildings, Quintin Lake`s photographs explore architecture as the physical world around us, from man-made structures to natural forms. Despite the fact that these photographs come from many countries, they suggest a world we can all relate to: children playing on steps; urban underground railways; lovers embracing; entrances to houses. In seven thematic sections that deal with form, surface, space, shelter, memory, ideology & urbanity, the very notion of architecture is redefined as an inherent quality of everything we perceive in the world. Through pairings of photographs
- a clear & accessible format
- Lake suggest to us the possibility of seeing anew the places & spaces we inhabit & move through each day.
