Sonnblick area of the Alps in a combined hiking & ski edition at 1:25, 000 from a series of detailed, GPS compatible maps published by the DAV
- Deutscher Alpenverein & produced by the German & Austrian Alpine Clubs using cartography from their respective survey organizations. Maps in this series have topography vividly presented by contours at 20 metres intervals, enhanced by shading & finely drawn graphic relief. An overprint highlights hiking paths and/or ski routes (please see the note below), campsites & various types of mountain huts & refuges. The area covered by each map varies according to the scale; for 1:25, 000 maps it is Approx. 25x 18 km (15 x 11 miles). The maps have a 1-km UTM grid, plus margin ticks with latitude & longitude at intervals of 1`. Map legend is in German only.PLEASE NOTE – THE OVERPRINT FOR HIKING and/or SKI ROUTES: all Sheet Ref. numbers shown on the accompanying grid are available with an overprint highlighting hiking trails, indicating sections with fixed climbing ropes &, where appropriate, the waymarking route numbers. Several titles are now published with both hiking & ski routes on them. Other areas are covered by two separate maps: a hiking edition plus a ski edition. Sonoma Valley & Carneros Wine Country Biking Map at 1:30, 000 from Map Adventures showing local conservations areas, recreational trails, wineries, etc. The region is divided between two sides of the map. On one side is Sonoma City with the Los Carneros wine growing area to the south, extending east to Napa City to show wineries on the Napa County side of the county border; an inset presents the centre of Sonoma City in greater detail. On the reverse is the northern part of the Sonoma Valley extending north to Oakmont. The maps show biking or hiking only trails, highlighting starting points of 10 recommended biking routes for which descriptions are provided. Also marked are facilities such as information points, car parks, restrooms & picnic areas. Sonoma Valley on a contoured hiking & biking map from Map Adventures showing local conservations areas, detailed classification of recreational trails, wineries, etc. On one side a map at 1:30, 000 covers the northern part of the valley along the Sonoma Highway from Glen Ellen to Santa Rosa, including the Taylor Mountain Regional Park, Annadel State Park, Spring Lake Regional Park, Hood Mountain Regional Park & Sugarloaf Ridge State Park. Two small insets present Hood Mountain & Sugarloaf Ridge in greater detail. On the reverse are two separate panels extend coverage further south: Glen Ellen to Eldridge with the Sonoma Valley Regional Park & the Jack London State Historic Park (1:20, 000), plus the northern part of Sonoma City with the adjoining mountains including the Sonoma Overlook Trail (1:17, 000). All the panels are contoured to show the region’s mountainous topography & have colouring indicating parks & other types of conservation areas. The classification of trails indicates paved & unpaved routes for bikers, paths for hikers only or for hikers & horses, etc. All the trails as well as other local roads are shown with distances. Symbols show various facilities, including information points, campgrounds, picnic areas, drinking water, etc. The panels have no geographical coordinates for GPS navigating. Each panel has an index of trails highlighted on it., & 18 of the trails from the three panels are cross-referenced to brief descriptions.
