33 specially selected hiking trails in the Upper Engadin valley of Switzerland presented at 1:50, 000 on a waterproof & tear-resistant, contoured & GPS compatible map from the Hallwag/Kümmerly + Frey group, with route profiles, grading for the severity of the terrain & the degree of fitness required, etc. Coverage

Includes::
St. Moritz, Pontresina, Poschiavo, Majola, Piz Bernina & the Bernina Pass, etc. The cartography provides an excellent picture of the terrain through contours at 25-metre intervals enhanced by shading, graphic relief for exposed rock, & colouring for glaciers & woodlands. All local footpaths are on the maps, but the overprint specifically highlights 33 trails selected by the publishers in collaboration with Geo-tracks. The colouring of each trail indicates the degree of fitness needed, from “no physical shape required” to “extremely high level of physical fitness necessary”. The trails start near a railway station or a bus stop (the colouring of the road network indicates routes with public transport & locations of individual bus stops). The maps have the lines of the Swiss national grid at 1-km intervals. On the reverse each trail has a route profile, its grading according to severity of the terrain & the degree of fitness required to attempt it, details of length & approximate timing, the change in altitude on assent & descent, plus a brief description. Map legend

Includes::
English; all the text on the reverse is in German. Each title also

a code for a free download onto a smartphone. Oberengadin (Upper Engadin Valley) at 1:60, 000, including the Bregaglia (Bergell) & Bernina valleys, Albula & Majola passes, & the resorts of St Moritz, Silvaplana, Sils, Maloja, Zuoz, Pontresina, & Poschiavo, in Kümmerly + Frey’s hiking series of Switzerl&, with most titles now printed on light, waterproof & tear-resistant plastic paper. The series offers a popular alternative to Swiss survey maps & cartography which many walkers find easier to follow. Coverage of the whole country is designed so that each title presents a popular hiking area. The maps have contours at 50 or 25-metre intervals according to the terrain, enhanced by graphic relief & shading. An overprint distinguishes between sign-posted hiking paths, mountain path where proper walking shoes are necessary, & alpine paths requiring special equipment. Most titles now also indicate national & regional long-distance hiking routes, each annotated with its official number. Mountain huts are marked, plus various types of accommodation: campsites, youth hostels, “ Friends of Nature” houses, & secluded hotels & restaurants. Road network indicates local bus routes with stops. Railways, narrow gauge mountain railways, cable car lines, & chair lifts are shown, with various symbols highlighting places of interest, viewpoints, picnic sites, swimming pools, etc. Each title covers an area of Approx. 60 x 42 km (37 x 26 miles). The maps have a 1km Swiss national grid, plus latitude & longitude margin ticks at 5’ intervals. * Map legend

The best rides in the freeride hot spots of the Alps – this is the simple formula of the Freeride Maps. The first map available to freeriders is making the locals freeride knowledge available to a broad public. All ridable slopes, drops & couloirs are marked as freeride corridors in different colours for three difficulty ratings: blue for technically easy terrain, yellow requires advanced to very advanced ability & red is extremely difficult terrain that is partially exposed & therefore reserved to crack riders. Short ascents are marked with red lines. The Freeride Maps are based on topographic maps 1:25, 000. They contain all essential information about the terrain that is necessary for planning & going freeriding. The maps are printed on water resistant & indestructible paper. On the back side, the maps include all relevant planning, safety & rescue information. ...

Oberhausen in 1944 in the Alan Godfrey series of reproductions of British War Office survey maps first published in 1945 prior to the Allied occupation of the area. The map covers Oberhausen & the northern part of Mülheim. Oberhausen town centre is included & the map stretches westward to Meiderich, Duissern & the eastern outskirts of Duisburg. A major feature is the Gutehoffnungshütte site. Other features include a complex network of railways, the Rhein
- Herne Canal, the Ruhr River, the Styrum area, Dumpten, Frintrop, Neumühl, harbour marshalling yard, etc, & of course the massive Thyssen & Siemens factories. To see other titles in this series please click on the series link. This series of reproductions from Alan Godfrey covers the major industrial area east of the Rhine that

Includes::
Bochum, Cologne, Dortmund, Duisburg, Düsseldorf, Essen, Gelsenkirchen, Oberhausen & other towns, with their great network of railways & industries. The maps are taken from the British War Office 1:12, 500 plans & reduced at Approx. 1:19, 000. Published in 1945, prior to the Allied occupation of the area, the maps are especially good at showing industry, collieries & transport. They are not bombing maps
- indeed, they make clear that allowance is not made for bomb damage
- but show the areas with all their industrial sites & railways largely as they were before the bombing raids of 1943-44. The maps have additional information added by British intelligence. This is normally accurate but allowance must be made for the `fog of war` & occasional spelling mistakes, etc. Each title has on the reverse a specially written introduction to the area in English, with a shorter text in German. Map legend is in English only.

Oberhausen Extra

Falk, one of Germany`s leading publishers of street plans, produce their town plans in two different formats. Falk Extra plans are folded in a standard way, where the whole map can be opened to view the entire area it covers. For larger cities, the same mapping is also published with a special folding system designed to show only a small section of the map at one time. The whole map can be opened but it will be cut in several places. Many find these street plans very user-friendly and easier to handle than conventional maps. The plans, which cover towns with their outer suburbs, indicate main landmarks and public buildings and show all the public transport facilities, one way streets and car parks. Plans of lager cities include a separate map of the town centre at a more detailed
scale and a diagram of the underground and the suburban rail network. The plans also show the postal divisions and have an extensive street index which, where appropriate, shows individual postal codes for each street. Map legend includes English. Falk Extra plans also include on the reverse a road map of the surrounding area.
