This fascinating collection of over 200 images of Frampton Cotterell & Coalpit Heath has been compiled using photographs from the archives of the Frampton Cotterell & District Local History Society & from local resident`s personal collections. As well as providing a photographic record of village street scenes & buildings this compilation also gives an insight into the everyday life of the people who have lived, worked & played in the area since the end of the nineteenth century. The pictures include class groups of all the local schools, neighbourhood shops & merchants, organizations & groups, tradesmen & industry & a section on the now defunct coalmines. Each image is accompanied by an informative caption, bringing the past to life & describing aspects of life in historic hamlets such as Brockeridge, Frampton Common, Goose Green, Adams Land & North Corner.
