The map was prepared by the IGN and the Association de Coopération Interrégionale “Les chemins de Saint-Jacques de Compostelle”.The routes are clearly marked on a base which uses IGN’s general road map of the country. The overprint differentiates between main and alternative pilgrimage routes, and indicates principal starting points such as Vézeley, Le Puy or Arles, as well as important crossroads. Colour-coded symbols, cross-referenced to lists provided in the accompanying information,
mark locations of various churches and other cultural heritage linked to the Compostela theme, including UNESCO World Heritage sites, places mentioned by Aymeri Picaud in the 12th century, etc. Map legend for the road map and the overprint includes English.
