This is not only a map of the island but a historical snapshot of how far the settlement process had got at this time. There are virtually no settlements marked inl&, solely along the coast (e.g. Falmouth, St. John's Town). However, the maritime information is surprisingly deep. Undewater rocks, shoals, breakers, islands & depths are all marked in places, but there is little indication of terrain features.
