In addition to all the usual information featured on topographic mapping at this scale, detailed presentation of the road & rail networks, rural tracks & paths, etc, the maps also show campsites & mountain refuges. On more recent editions some GRs, the official long-distance hiking routes, are also marked (although not as clearly as on hiking maps from other publishers). Each map covers 29.5x 18.5 km (with adjustments in the border or coastal areas). The maps have a 1-km UTM grid, plus margin ticks for latitude & longitude at 1` intervals. Torres del Paine at 1:75, 000 with hiking trails & route profiles on a GPS compatible, contoured map from Piximap, plus on the reverse the fjords west of Puerto Natales at 1:250, 000 & a street plan of the town. On one side is the central area of the Torres del Paine National Park, extending from Posada Rio Serrano on the north-western tip of Lago del Torres northwards across the Paine massif to Lago Dickson, plus eastwards to include ranger stations, huts & camping areas around Lago Azul & Lago Verde. The map provides a very clear picture of the region’s terrain through contours at 25m intervals enhanced by relief shading & colouring for forests, grassl&, swamps & glaciers, plus plenty of names of topographic features. Roads are classified as dirt or 4x 4/AWD; hiking trails distinguish between main routes & those without waymarking. Symbols indicate locations of campsites & camping areas, huts & ranger stations, viewpoints, etc, as well as facilities available in Posada Rio Serrano. The map has latitude & longitude lines at 5’ plus UTM margin ticks. On the reverse 10 routes are shown on profiles indicating distances & changes in altitude.
