Le Vie Ferrate E Le Strade Postale Della Germania Orientale, an original antique map by F.C.Marmocchi, published in Genoa, 1858. A copperplate engraving, original o/l colour. Map size 27 x 33.5 cm with a mount size of 43 x 49.5 cm.This rather unusual map shows the railways and the major postal routes across Central Europe: through south-eastern Prussia, much of Austria-Hungary and part of Russian Poland. The map extends from Berlin and Warsaw in the north to Trieste in the south, and from Cracow in the east to Regensburg in the west. The communication system is clearly delineated with railways in dark print and the postal routes in a slightly different format. The map was published in Francesco Constanino Marmocchi's atlas, the Globo Atlante Di Carta Geographiche that was published
in Genoa in 1858. Antique maps from various original publishers are presented on the Stanford
