The map shows the region’s road network, including selected desert tracks, with distances marked on main routes; a symbol for border crossings is included in the legend but the crossing points are not on the map itself. Railway lines are included, also international & selected smaller airports. Topography is shown by altitude colouring in broad bands, with relatively few names of mountain ranges, etc, given the map’s scale. Numerous oasis are marked – whether named varies from country to country. Also highlighted are numerous national parks & protected areas, shown mostly without their names.
