The Merritt Battle Freecoaster uses a traditional clutch style system paired with the 9T Diamond Driver (the driver comes with a lifetime guarantee). The driver replaces the small bearings, the most common source of failure in freecoasters, with polymer bushings along its entire length. The hub shell is super slim & CNC’d 6061 aluminum with a hollow chromoly axle. The hub comes set with maximum slack (we recommend running it like this) but adjustment washers are included to reduce slack if desired. The Battle Freecoaster is laced to The Battle Rim, The Battle Rim steps away from the low profile trend we’ve been seeing in BMX with some taller sidewalls to give the rim a little more beef. The Battle rim is made from 6061-aluminum with a 39mm width & a welded seam to ensure strength. It’s a double wall rim & it has a beefy ridge in the middle to help prevent spokes from blowing out.
