these ends Jack and Tyler set up &Fight Clubs& where men can engage in brutal bare-knuckle fights However friction develops between the two men when they both become rivals for the attentions of Marla (Helena Bonham-Carter) In &Thelma and Louise& (1991) waitress Louise (Susan Sarandon) persuades her friend Thelma (Geena Davis) to escape her sexist husband and join her on a driving holiday When they stop off at a country bar Louise ends up saving Thelma from an attempted rape - shooting and killing the rapist in the process - and the women consequently find themselves forced to go on the run Along the way their money is stolen by a handsome cowboy (Pitt) and they begin holding-up convenience stores feeling strangely liberated by their new-found assertiveness Harvey Keitel stars as the
detective who attempts to talk the heroines into giving themselves up In &A River Runs Through It& (1992) Robert Redford directs and narrates a tale of two brothers growing up in 1920s Montana Norman (Craig Sheffer) is the responsible one who will later attend college while Paul (Pitt) is more reckless staying at home and getting increasingly involved in a lifestyle of gambling and drinking Together they join their preacher father (Tom Skerritt) for long fly fishing sessions but the apparent happiness of these occasions is eventually disrupted by Paul&s carelessness a carelessness which draws the film towards its tragic conclusion
