Rosa Vulgaris Chart Shop Download This softly shaded rose has been worked twice, using two different counted stitching techniques to achieve very different effects. Both roses are worked on ivory evenweave but the cross stitch versioncould also be stitched on 14-count Aida. The blackwork rose could be worked on Aida but you may need a sharp needle when working across part of a square. Traditionally, blackwork is stitched by working the outline of a shape & filling the spaces with blackwork patterns, often in a combination of stranded cotton, silk & possibly metallics. I havecharted this design using the same outline as the cross stitch version of the rose & filled it with various blackwork stitches in variegated threads. This design has been stitched on 26-count ivory orantique white Zweigart Dublin linen but could also be worked on Aida. Stitch count: 83 x 64 Design
