Recorded in Dublin & in Los Angeles, & produced by Don Was, Voodoo Lounge topped the British charts on its release in 1994. The rockers Love Is Strong featuring Jagger on harmonica You Got Me Rocking & I Go Wild all performed strongly in the UK Top 40, while Out Of Tears continued the groups fine tradition of late-night, soul-searching, soul-infused ballads & featured a killer vocal performance by Jagger. The singer also excelled on the equally contemplative Blinded By Rainbows, a forgotten gem in their repertoire, & the swaggering Sparks Will Fly, driven by the ever-excellent Charlie Watts on drums. Voodoo Lounge deservedly won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album in 1995. ...
In honor of their show date in Zurich on September 20, 2017, the series is inspired by the groundbreaking graphic design style that originated in Switzerland in the 1940s & 1950s. A Bigger Bang, the Rolling Stones last studio album to date, made the Top 3 on both sides of the Atlantic in 2005. Its release coincided with the groups longest ever world tour, lasting two years, a feat likely to remain unbeaten by any other rock artist. Recorded mostly in France, it recalls the informal vibe of Exile On Main Street & has sold in excess of 2.5 million copies to date. A double A-side single coupling the rocker Rough Justice & Streets Of Love, another superior soulful ballad, reached number 15 in the UK, while the Bush-baiting Sweet Neo Con made headlines in the US.. A Bigger Bang more than lived up to its title. These albums will be re-mastered & all retain the original track listings & sleeve design. ...
A milestone in the recording career of the band in that Jagger Richards wrote every single track on this their fourth studio album to be released in Britain. Its arguably the first ever rock album. The credentials At over eleven minutes, Going Home was one of the longest track ever to have appeared on any pop album, the tracks were recorded at two three day marathon sessions at RCA in Hollywood in December 1965 & March 1966, its fourteen tracks ran for over 53 minutes long by the standards of pop LPs & most of all it sounds like a rock album with a cohesion not associated with other long playing records from the era. Among the classic songs are Mothers Little Helper the a-side of the twelfth US single, & its b-side Lady Jane, Under my Thumb & Out of Time. Jack Nitzsche & Ian Stewart share the keyboard duties & Brian Jones plays a whole variety of instruments including an Appalachian dulcimer on Lady Jane. ...
