The R872 (developed from our award winning Ribble Stealth) is a high modulus T800 Toray carbon fibre race bike. The R872 has been designed with stiffness as a priority. The main areas of flex, headtube, bottom bracket have been bulked up with extra layers of carbon to reduce flex & the chainstays are 40mm deep. This gives a very rigid & responsive ride perfect for road racing & fast riding. BB30 bottom bracket
- a new standard that is stiffer, lighter & narrower than traditional bottom bracket systems. Asymmetric 1-1/8 top 1-1/2 bottom head tube for extra front-end stiffness. A Ribble R872 1 1/8 -1 1/2 45x 45 hidden headset fits perfectly. Internal brake cable routing. Superior frame stiffness-to-weight ratio STW 105. If you wish to fit a standard diameter 68mm English bottom bracket an FSA BB30 shell adaptor is available at a special price (see below). We strongly recommend that the sleeve is fitted by a skilled mechanic. Please note if you wish to fit a standard Campagnolo Chorus, Record or Super Record chainset you can achieve this without the use of a sleeve by fitting Campagnolo BB30 UT Integrated Cups size BB30 68x 42. Please note if you wish to fit a standard Campagnolo Xenon, Veloce or Athena chainset you can achieve this without the use of a sleeve by fitting Campagnolo BB30 PT Integrated Cups size BB30 68x 42. Our challenge was to improve our best-selling carbon road bike. How do you actually improve an already perfectly balanced award-winning bike? The R872 has been so popular with road racers, triathletes & the Cycling Press that we listened to their needs for an even stiffer & faster ride. At the heart of the R872 is a cutting edge, full carbon frameset featuring internal cable routing, a tapered head tube, a stiffened up bottom bracket shell & deep chain stays for enhanced power transfer. Itis of course compatible with electronic groupsets too. The R872 tubing profile & carbon layup has been significantly re-designed for 2017. There is new, integrated designing between the fork & down tube to improve the bikes aerodynamic efficiency. Not only is the new R872 head tube tapered, but its also shaped to cut through the air with ease. The frame also features new carbon drop outs helping to keep the weight down. The only aspect that we were unable to improve upon in some way, however small, was the proven geometry which remains unchanged. The new R872 retains its small head tube & short, racy top tube which has made it such a favourite on the amateur race scene. When compared with the previous model the stiffness statistics show why we think the R872 will help you stay competitive in races with even better power transfer features.
