Like Coast, the book is a celebration of the British landscape, specifically the Lake District, & it tells the remarkable story of Alfred Wainwright who in 1952 decided to hand draw a series of guides to the fells of Lakel&.

For the next 13 years he spent every weekend walking, & every weekday evening drawing & writing
- completing one page per night. The result was Wainwright's Pictorial Guides to the Lakeland Fells. Although initially self published they have now sold over a million copies & are still popular & much loved today.

He went on to present a series of TV shows on the BBC about walking in the Lake District that made him even better known. Like Fred Dibnah he was an unlikely celebrity, he preferred his own company & thought walking in the countryside should be a solitary rather than group pursuit. This year marks the 100th anniversary of his birth & this TV series & book are sure to introduce him to a new generation of lovers of the countryside.

Features some of Wainwright's favourite walks & is lavishly illustrated including a large number of aerial shots of Lakel&.

Andy Cameron is one of Scotland's best-loved comedians. He has appeared in countless television, theatre & cabaret shows during his 30 years in showbusiness & he never fails to reduce his audience to tears of laughter. Behind the jokes & smiles, however, is an amazing life story. Born in London to a Scots father & an English mother, Andy's mum abandoned him when she ran off with another man while his father was in Egypt during the Second World War. He was looked after by an elderly lady but was later found in a bombed-out building after one of the air raids of the Blitz. When his father was recalled from the desert, Andy was taken by troop train to Rutherglen to be brought up by his beloved granny, Bella. He started out on the comedy scene in the early '70s, compering other acts at the Rolls Royce club in Glasgow. Andy then worked his way through the Scottish social-club scene & up the cabaret tree to take his place in theatres & on our television screens in shows such as It's Andy Cameron, Andy Cameron Live & Shammy Dab. He brought much fun & laughter to the airwaves with his fantastic Radio Scotland show Andy Cameron's Sunday Joint, which ran for 15 years. A man of many talents, he played the role of taxi driver Chic Cherry in the long-running Scottish soap High Road & also recorded the most unlikely of hit songs, ' Ally's Tartan Army' to cheer on Scotland's national side in the 1978 World Cup campaign. He now broadcasts his Sunday radio show on Clyde 2 & has never been more popular with his after-dinner act & cabaret shows, both at home & abroad. ...

Waiting For Godalming

The Jehovahs have always been a tight-knit family and one of the biggest names in universal property development. The driving force behind them is the old boy, God, although in recent millennia he has ceased to play an active role and has become something of a recluse.

Now tragedy has struck the House of Jehovah. God has died in mysterious circumstances, leaving his beloved planet earth to his youngest son, Colin, which seems deeply suspicious, as everyone felt certain that the meek were supposed to inherit it. Colin is all for flogging off the planet to the highest bidder, and this looks like being the Jehovahs
