The design and construction makes this lamp unit suitable for outdoor use and both sensor and lamp unit may be swivelled vertically and the sensor also may be swivelled horizontally so that the unit can be used in a wide range of positions. The PIR sensor switches the light on when movement is detected within a 3 to 12m range and the light will remain on for between 5 sec to 5 min, adjustable by the user. To compenste for seasonal variations in temperature and help prevent false triggers the sensor may be adjusted for sensitivity and the light level at which the sensor is activated is adjustable so that the unit may be set to operate later
