- Forge Fix MN2525, These Forgefix Masonry Nails are light gauge universal nails, suitable for fastening all manner of fixtures in place on masonry applications. The nails are manufactured from austempered (heat-treated) high carbon steel for strength & durability, & are Zinc Plated for increased resistance to corrosion. For fastening, cabling, timber form work etc. to concrete & masonry. Always wear suitable eye protection to the recommended standards. Zinc coatings prevent oxidation of the protected metal to create a longer lasting finish. It does this by forming a barrier & by acting as a sacrificial anode if this barrier is damaged. Zinc oxide is a fine white dust that (in contrast to iron oxide) does not trigger a breakdown of the substrate’s surface integrity as it is formed. The zinc oxide, if left intact, can act as a barrier to further oxidation, in a way similar to the protection afforded to aluminium & stainless steels by their oxide layers. Zinc plating is the most common, economy, electroplated coating which is normally applied to ferrous components to give enhanced corrosion protection. The relatively low cost, protective nature & attractive appearance of zinc make it a popular coating for nuts, bolts, washers, screws, & similar interior components.
