Adafruit Barometric Pressure / Altitude / Temperature Sensors
- Adafruit 1603, The Adafruit BMP180 Barometric Pressure / Altitude / Temperature Sensors use only 2 x GPIO pins & provide you with precision air pressure measurements. You can set the pressure sampling rate up to 128 samples per second to obtain a good averaged result whilst it's probably sufficient to sample temperature once per second. Each board contains a 3.3V regulator, an I2C level shifter & pull-up resistors on the I2C bus making it 5V ready. Adafruit supply a tutorial & library to get you started. The library also provides a subroutine to calculate the altitude given the air pressure with a resolution of 1m & a range of -500 to +9000m above sea-level. Though, if you're 500m below sea-level, you may want to use a different sensor. Supplied with a fully assembled & tested sensor board plus a strip of 0.1in. header pins for you to solder on as required.
