The world's first Hardy Gerbera in a range of bright, zingy neon colours, the Garvinea series was originally launched to great acclaim across Europe. Bringing the popular florists' gerbera flowers to a garden perennial, they give an amazing 7 months of colour from spring to autumn every year
- not many plants can do that! Well, now they have got even better. The breeders in Holland who created them have developed an enhanced series with much bigger flowers, & even longer lasting performance. called the ' Sweet Series', we are delighted to be able to bring you some of the limited stock. Retaining the same benefits of being winter hardy to around -8C (although avoid severe winter wet), & flowering for 3 seasons of colour, their highly distinctive flowers simply keep coming
- up to 50 on a 2-year-old plant. We love them in traditional terracotta pots, in the sun, or grown in well-drained borders at the front, where they will amaze you with their persistence of flowering & sheer flower number. In winter they are herbaceous, so die back completely underground, to emerge bigger & better next year. You will get one plant each about to flower of ' Sweet Glow'
- deep warm orange ' Sweet Smile'
- warm honey yellow ' Sweet Spice'
- bright magenta violet Top Tips- Plant in full sun & protected from cold winds. Care Guide- Garvineas prefer fertile, well-drained, moist soil that has been dug deeply.- Individually knock out each plant from its container. Look at the roots Â- if they are circling around the compost, it is best to tease them out. To do this, push your fingers into the rootball along the bottom edge & pull. Do this in a couple of places. This should encourage the roots to spread into the surrounding soil.- Next use a trowel or spade to create a hole just deep & wide enough to set in the rootball.- When planting set the crowns slightly above the soil level then firm back around the soil, using your hand for small clumps & your heel on larger areas.- Water in well to settle the soil & prevent drying out. Hostas are one of the best perennials here in UK gardens, forming mounds of attractive, often colourful foliage, which is topped with sprays of bell-shaped flowers in summer. Growing virtually anywhere, & particularly valuable for those awkward shady spots, they are available in a wide range of colours & forms to suit any garden. Also known as Plantain Lilies, Hostas are great for filling gaps in beds & borders, & they also look fabulous planted up in patio pots & containers separately for a more formal look. Their attractive foliage creates interest all year round & their stunning, often fragrant flowers really wow in the summer. They love the sun but will perform just as well in the shade
- they're a great choice for planting underneath trees & shrubs in dabbled shade, acting as great groundcover plants. We've put together a great collection for you, featuring three of the best types (and some holders of the RHS Award of Garden Merit) in a good selection of colours to give the best display in your garden, whether in the border or in pots. This collection

Includes::
a mixture of 3 varieties Hosta ' Blue Angel' (AGM) forms a clump of wavy-edged, large blue-grey leaves. Bell-shaped, pale lavender-white are produced from June. One of the largest & most reliable of the Blue hostas. H75-80cm (30-32in) W90-120cm (35-47in). Hosta fortunei var. albopicta has broad, creamy-yellow, heart-shaped leaves with contrasting green margins. Mauve flowers are borne on leafy stems in July. H45-55cm (18-21in) W80-100cm (31-39in). Hosta ' Wide Brim' (AGM) heart-shaped, puckered dark green-blue leaves with a cream margin. Pale lavender flowers in June-July. H40-45cm (16-18in) W80-100cm (31-39in). Please note that we reserve the right to substitute varieties, depending on seasonal availability. Top Tips- For best effect, plant where your hostas receive full sun for at least half of the day, but protect from midday sun. This will encourage the best leaf colour. Care Guide- Before planting, incorporate plenty of organic matter into the soil. Hostas prefer a rich, moisture retentive soil.- Individually knock out each plant from its container. Look at the roots Â- if they are circling around the compost, it is best to tease them out. To do this, push your fingers into the root ball along the bottom edge & pull. Do this in a couple of places. This should encourage the roots to spread into the surrounding soil.- Next use a trowel or spade to create a hole just deep & wide enough to set in the football.- The aim is to bury just the roots, leaving the bases of the stems (when in growth in summer) or the shoots (in spring) above ground.- Firm back around the soil, using your hand for small clumps & your heel on larger areas.- Keep plants well-watered & mulched with well-rotted organic matter.- Hostas can be grown in any container in a good, multi-purpose compost. Ensure that they are kept well-watered. Pot-grown hostas should be fed monthly with a general-purpose liquid feed.- Protect from slugs & snails.- If you find that your hosta is suffering from scorched leaves, move it to a shadier, more sheltered position.
