Beneficial bacteria colonise the ceramic media & remove toxic fish waste from the water as the water flows through it. bi Orb ceramic media is full of pores for bacteria to live on, just 900g of ceramic media has the surface area equivalent to a football pitch.
You can add more media to your bi Orb to increase the area for filtration.
Over time, these pores can become blocked with dirt & limescale reducing the surface area available. Replacing some of the media every year or so can help to keep the filtration efficient.
Never replace more than 1/3rd of your media at one time & wait at least a month before replacing any more.

Product Description

If your air pump stops working replace it as soon as you can to minimise interruption to the filtration. It is advisable to keep a spare air pump so that if it fails you can replace it straight away.
If the bubbles have stopped it may not be the air pump, check our help pages for more information.
Suitable for all sizes of bi Orb & bi Ube aquariums.
