Malus domestica ' Peasgood's Nonsuch'
Highly esteemed in Victorian times this cooking apple was raised by a Mrs Peasgood of Grantham, Linconshire in the mid 19th century. The fruits are large & particularly handsome with pale green skin covered in broken red stripes & an orange flush. Cooks down to a deliciously flavoured purée, slightly acid yet quite sweet. Excellent for baking. Heavy cropping. The tree is resistant to mildew & moderately resistant to scab.
