The Small Leaved Lime (Tilia Cordata Green Spire) Pleached Tree 2830 girth, 1.8m clear stem, 4 Tier Pleached at 40cm spacing Pleached trees are trees which have been shaped & pruned normally on a framework to create a screen used for both ornamental & screening purposes. Pleached trees usually have a clear stem of 2m & have 4 horizontal tiers spaced 40cm apart. These are great for formal areas. Trees are grown on a bamboo framework which can be kept on the trees when planted. Depending on the desired effect the usual planting distance would be 3.0m centres. The Small Leaved Lime (Tilia Cordata Green Spire) is a large native deciduous hedge of rounded habit, with alternately arranged heartshaped leaves, glossy green above, pale yellow beneath. They also have tiny redbrown tufts of hairs under the veinjoints. The small hermaphrodite Ivory coloured, sweetly scented flowers are produced in clusters of five to eleven in early summer with a leafy yellowgreen subtending bract. The flowers in summer are erect & dominate the foliage, & give rise to very small hairless fruit.
