Our RHS White Willow hedges are fastgrowing deciduous native hedges with narrow silverbacked leaves. The name derives from the white tone to the undersides of the leaves. The hedge can shimmer in the wind providing movement & colour to a garden. It is fast growing (up to 2 ft per year). The bark is greybrown & deeply fissured in older hedges. The leaves are superb; paler than most other willows due to a covering of very fine silky white hairs particularly on the underside. The flowers are produced in catkins in early spring & pollinated by insects.
