These porcelain blue hyacinth bulbs flower from January onwards, Delft blue is a fragrant hyacinth & these bulbs are prepared for early flowering. Prepared hyacinths are specifically suited to be grown indoors. When planted before the end of September, they can flower from mid-December onwards. They can also be grown in hyacinth glasses using only water. Hyacinth bulbs can be grown in almost any container, using bulb fibre. Plant up to 5 per container, leaving the neck of the bulb protruding above the surface. Water, then place in a cool, frost free spot at a maximum temperature of 9C. When the flower bud is through the neck of the bulb, bring into a warm, light room at approx. 18C. Keep moist but do not over water. If growing in hyacinth glasses, ensure the base of the bulb does not touch the water. The roots will form & grow down into the water. Keep the glass in a cool, dark spot & proceed as for pot grown once the flower bud is through the neck of the bulb. Approx 5cm. When growing in water, a piece of charcoal will keep the water sweet. Hyacinth bulbs can cause a skin irritation. Use gloves or wash hands after handling.
