As the film progresses it becomes clear that a newspaper reporter is covering up for the fact that he abused the woman and is trying to vilify Dr Cole (Kenneth Kent). 'The Impersonator' (1960) is set in a small English town where a schoolmistress (Jane Griffiths) agrees to go on a date with a US Airforce sergeant (John Crawford). They miss each other at the agreed time and a series of murders take place in which the man becomes the prime suspect.
