Portrait of musician & guitar designer Les Paul, known in the music world as the ' Architect of Rock 'n' Roll'. As a young man, Paul played guitar for Bing Crosby & other jazz greats. Throughout the 1940s & 50s he had a string of hits in partnership with his wife, Mary Ford. At the same time he was designing what would become one of the greatest of all rock icons: the Gibson Les Paul guitar. He also pioneered the art of multitrack recording & overdubbing, & was responsible for techniques that would be used in recording studios throughout the world for the next forty years.
