In ' Revelations', Londo becomes increasingly involved with the ancient race of the Shadows & by doing so orders the death of 10, 000 Narns in Quadrant 37. In ' The Geometry of Shadows', some Techno Mages give Londo the benefit of their prescience by foreseeing the effects of his deal with the Shadows. In 'A Distant Star', a freighter arrives at the station from the rim where huge spider-like ships (shadows?) keep appearing & disappearing. In ' The Long Dark' an ancient space-ship is discovered near the station, & its contents create mystery & danger for the Babylon station. In ' Spider in the Web', a fanatical free-Mars fighter is stalking the station killing all who get in his way. When the murderer is scanned by a telepath it is revealed that he is already dead. In 'A Race Through the Dark Places', PSi Corp's Bester returns to try & block the escape route for rogue telepaths. In ' Soul Mates', Londo discovers that he can divorce two of his three wives, but does not know which one to keep. Meanwhile, Talia Winters is visited by a rogue telepath who intends to give her a gift to change her powers. In ' The Coming of Shadows', the five year story arc is furthered when the elderly Centauri Emperor arrives on the station & a group of Centauri nationalists decide that it is Ambassador Mollari's time as Emperor, & Londo uses his links with the Shadows to help his cause. In 'GROPOS', Dr Franklin's father visits the station & tries to resolve their differences even though his thoughts are really on the military manoeuvres that he is organising. At the same time, the station is flooded with GROPOS (Ground Pounders) troops from Earth Force making the running of the facility even more complicated. In ' All Alone in the Night', Captain Sheridan is kidnapped by aliens & subjected to a series of bizarre tests. Meanwhile Delenn is removed from the Minbari Grey Council, a move that may have repercussions at a later date (in series 3, maybe). In ' Acts of Sacrifice', G' Kar asks Earth & Minbari representatives to help the Narn in the war with the Centauri. He finds his position more difficult when a young Narn declares unofficial war on any Centauri on the station. In ' Hunter, Prey', an Earth Force agent arrives on the station chasing a physician who used to care for the late President Santiago. Sheridan discovers that the doctor is carrying evidence that could implicate President Clarke in his predecessor's assassination. In ' And Now For a Word', the day-to-day running of the station is the subject of a fly-on-the-wall documentary made by the Interstellar News Network. In ' There All the Honor Lies', Sheridan kills a prominent Minbari, & his pleas of self defence go unheeded. It seems that militant Minbaris may be plotting against him
- the man they call ' Star Killer'. In ' Knives', an old friend of Ambassador Mollari asks for his help, but Londo feels that he must refuse because he will make an enemy of Lord Refa. Meanwhile, Sheridan investigates a supposedly haunted section of the station. In ' In the Shadow of Z'ha'dum', Captain Sheridan breaks the rules when he realises the Morden was aboard the same ship as the one where his wife died. Delenn & Kosh stop him from exposing Morden as an agent for the Shadows, saying that the forces of light are not yet ready for the confrontation that this will cause. This story is one of the most vital in the long-running story arc. In ' Confessions & Lamentations', an epidemic begins to spread through one of the alien races aboard the station. The disease, which is 100 per cent lethal, is related to immorality & therefore a taboo subject. The doctor has to battle in order to save an entire race from the disease (which may or may not have something to do with the Shadows). In ' The Long Twilight Struggle', the Narn attempt to launch a crucial strike on a Centauri supply base, but the Centauri are forewarned & use the help of the Shadows to defeat the attack. This opens up the Narn homeworld to a devastating attack. In ' Divided Loyalties', former Psi-Cop Lyta Alexander returns to the station with news that there is a traitor among the staff. The problem is that the traitor has had their real personality hidden by telepathic techniques & does not know that they are rotten to the core. Sheridan decides to try & find the traitor using scans, but Ivanova refuses to be scanned. In ' Comes the Inquisitor', G' Kar tries to unite the disparate groups of exiled Narns to face off against the Centauri. Delenn & Sheridan have their faith tested by a human emmissary. It is Kosh's way of seeing that the two of them are up to the challenge of the Shadow War. Finally in ' The Fall of Night', Sheridan receives some disturbing news about Earth's standing in the Narn/ Centauri situation. Keffer's tape of the creature in hyperspace reveals the existence of the Shadows, the Nightwatch tighten their grip on the station & Kosh leaves his encounter suit to save Sheridan's life.

In 'A Day in the Strife', the Centauris send a representative to the station to watch over the Narn inhabitants & force G' Kar back to the homeworld. Londo decides to send Vir to Minbar to work as an ambassador, while the Babylon 5 crew realise that they are being scanned by an alien probe that intends to destroy it. In ' Passing Through the Gethsemane', Lyta Alexander returns to the station to become Kosh's aide, & Brother Edward (a member of Theo's order) discovers that he was once a criminal, & has had a personality transplant. In ' Voices of Authority', the Forces of Light use the Great Machine on Epsilon 3 to locate the First Ones. Meanwhile Ivanova & Marcus have to travel to a distant point in the galaxy to make contact, with the result that Ivanova has a telepathic brush with the Shadows. Back on the station, the influence of the Nightwatch strengthens & evidence of Clarke's involvement in Santiago's assassination is made public. In ' Dust to Dust', Psi Corp's Bester returns to the station to track down an illegal source of the telepathic-enhancing drug Dust. G' Kar takes a dose, attacks Londo, is imprisoned, has a revelation & starts writing a new holy book for his race. In ' Exogenesis', the wayward inhabitants of the area of the station known as ' Down Below' start to behave like model citizens. Meanwhile, the awesome Shadow fleet starts to mass on the edge of Centauri space
- either ready to strike out or waiting for a more terrible purpose. In ' Messages from Earth', the projected five-year storyline takes a dramatic turn as a three-part mini-arc begins. An agent smuggled from Earth onto the station reveals that Earth Gov are planning to merge a human subject with a dormant Shadow vessel found on Ganymede. To avert the potentially catastrophic events, Sheridan dispatches the White Star to Jupiter to attempt to destroy the menace. From now on in, things take a rather dramatic & shattering course. In ' Point of No Return', corrupt President Clarke declares a vicious martial law on Earth & the ' Nightwatch' force conspires to take control of the station. Captain Sheridan chooses drastic measures to keep the station under his control. Meanwhile Londo hopes for a prediction from a visiting Centauri dignitary &, after his quasi-religious experience, G'kar believes he has something to offer Sheridan's over-stretched team. In ' Severed Dreams', Earth Gov send a fleet of powerful ships to retake Babylon 5 from Sheridan & his crew, while on Mars, several colonies declare themselves independent from Earth. In ' Ceremonies of Light & Dark', the Nightwatch hatch a plan to destroy the fragile Alliance of Non-Aligned Worlds by assassinating Delenn, & Londo meets with Lord Refa, urging the latter to break links with Morden & his ' Associates'. When Refa refuses, Londo plots his downfall. In ' Sic Transit Vir', Vir is presented with a Centauri woman who is to be his bride, while Ivanova finds that he has been passing Narn refugees through the station. Londo is delighted to find that Vir has been having them all killed
- or so it seems. In 'A Late Delivery from Avalon' a man claiming to be 'the Once & Future King', King Arthur, turns up on Babylon 5, but it seems he is actually a weapons officer from the ship that started the Earth-Minbari War. In ' Ship of Tears', Bester returns to the station with shocking news
- The Shadows are in league with President Clarke & there is a shipful of weapons components en route to them. Sheridan orders an attack on the transport & reveals a grisly secret while finding a chink in the Shadows' armour. In ' Interludes & Examinations', Sheridan & Delenn try to form an alliance of non-aligned worlds, but need the Vorlons to take some positive action. Sheridan convinces Kosh to act, but the Vorlon ambassador warns the Captain that there will be a price to pay. Meanwhile, Mordern plots to kill the love of Londo's life & put the blame on Lord Refa. In ' War without End (Part One)', Sheridan joins Commander Sinclair & Delenn in a treacherous mission to evacuate Babylon 4 (last seen in the first season episode ' Babylon Squared'), & stop the time shifting station from being destroyed by the Shadows in the last great war over 1000 years ago. While on the stricken station, Sheridan finds himself jumping through time where he sees a terrible sight. In ' War without End (Part Two), Sheridan sees more of his future where he sees Londo as the Centauri Emperor, but under the control of something unpleasant. Back on Babylon 4, time paradoxes unfold as Sinclair sees Zathras captured by the Sinclair of two years ago, & then Sinclair travels back in time to the time of the last Shadow War to take his place as Valen, the Minbari leader who set up the Grey Council. In ' Walkabout', Doctor Franklin faces his addiction to stims while Kosh's replacement arrives, holding Lyta Alexander to blame for his predecessor's death. Lyta proves that she can cripple Shadow vessels using her Psi talents. In ' Grey 17 is Missing', Garibaldi discovers a hidden level of the station occupied by a weird religious sect. Meanwhile, Neroon denounces Delenn's appointment as Ranger One, & Marcus is prepared to lose his life in her defense. In ' And the Rock Cried Out No Hiding Place', Londo plans to be rid of G' Kar once & for all, but Lord Refa hijacks the plan
- a move that he might well regret. In the war room, Sheridan discovers the awful truth about the Shadow's strategy. Z minus 10 days. In ' Shadow Dancing', Franklin gets stabbed, Marcus & Ivanova take a fleet of White Stars to a point where they believe the Shadows will strike (and they are not wrong) & Anna Sheridan comes back from the grave. By now, as everyone knows, if Sheridan goes to Z' Ha' Dum, he will die. In the cliff-hanging season finale 'Z' Ha' Dum', Sheridan, with Kosh's warning still ringing in his ears, travels to Z' Ha' Dum with his wife to get to the bottom of the conflict. The episode ends with a stunning & shocking denouement.

Londo & Vir hatch a plan to unseat the Emperor, with the help of the captured G' Kar. In ' The Long Night', Sheridan has to decide whether to allow one of the Ranger's ships to perish in return for setting a trap that will save 6 billion innocent people. Meanwhile, Susan & Marcus search for more First Ones & Londo launches his own plan to remove Cartagia from the Centauri throne. In ' Into the Fire', the battle between the Vorlons, the Shadows & Sheridan's forces begins in earnest

In order to stop Earth Force President Clark without taking direct military action, Garibaldi agrees to betray Sheridan to Edgars. In ' The Face of the Enemy', Sheridan's offensive against the fascist Earth forces gains momentum, but he is unaware that his former security chief Garibaldi is making his own moves to overthrow the government. In allegiance with industrialist William Edgars, Garibaldi kidnaps Sheridan's father, in order to lure Sheridan to Mars. ' Intersections in Real Time' sees Sheridan falling into Garibaldi's trap, imprisoned on Mars & subjected to torture, starvation & sleep deprivation. Sheridan's captors want him to confess to treason, terrorism & sabotage so that they can use him as a propaganda weapon on Earth. In ' Between the Darkness & the Light', Mr Garibaldi is saved from certain death by an old friend, & realizes that Mr Bester was responsible for his betrayal of Sheridan. Commander Ivanova's fleet of White Stars find themselves confronted by a flotilla of destroyers equipped with Shadow technology when they emerge from Hyperspace. ' Endgame' sees Sheridan taking a dangerous gamble to defeat the remaining hard core fleet still loyal to the corrupt Earth regime, while President Clark plays his last h&. In ' Rising Star', former enemies are united in the new Alliance, but Sheridan still finds himself facing a court martial for leading the original insurrection against Earth. Finally, ' The Deconstruction of Falling Stars' begins a century later. In 2362 opinions are still divided as to the role played by Sheridan in the conflict.
