Television dramatisation of the memoirs of Miep Gies, the woman who aided the family of Anne Frank in their attempt to hide from the Nazis in the Second World War. Gies (Mary Steenburgen) is the business partner of Otto Frank (Paul Scofield); when he takes his family of eight into hiding in the Secret Annexe, it is Gies who brings them food. As their only link with the outside world, Gies brings the Franks support & encouragement, & when they are finally betrayed & captured, it is she who retrieves Anne's account of her days in hiding.
