Adaptation/Being John Malkovich

Two popular comedies directed by Spike Jonze and written by Charlie Kaufman. In 'Adaptation' (2003), Nicolas Cage stars as screenwriter Charlie Kaufman who is struggling to adapt Susan Orlean's book 'The Orchid Thief' for the big screen. Riding high on the success of his hit 'Being John Malkovich', Kaufman finds himself in much demand around Hollywood. But this doesn't make the task of adapting Orlean's (Meryl Streep) book about orchid hunter John Laroche (Chris Cooper) any easier. In fact, the troubled writer finds himself in so much trouble that he calls on his clueless twin brother, Donald (Cage), for help. In 'Being John Malkovich' (1999) Craig Schwartz (John Cusack) is unappreciated as a puppeteer and bored with his ten-year marriage. When he takes a job in an office, he
discovers a portal into the mind of actor John Malkovich. To his amazement, he then finds that he is able to occupy and control Malkovich's body. But when he shares his discovery with his wife Lotte (Cameron Diaz) it leads to all kinds of trouble.
