Atovaquone/ Proguanil Hydrochloride is the first generic version & is cheaper than branded Malarone. Atovaquone/ Proguanil Hydrochloride contains two active ingredients: Atovaquone & Progunail Hydrochloride. Atovaquone/ Proguanil Hydrochloride tablets are used in two ways: to prevent malaria in adults & children who weigh more than 40kg & to treat malaria in adults & children who weigh more than 11kg. Malaria is spread by the bite of an infected mosquito, which passes the malaria parasite into your bloodstream. Atovaquone/ Proguanil Hydrochloride tablets prevents malaria by killing the parasite once infected. Whilst those people who already have been infected with malaria Atovaquone/ Proguanil Hydrochloride tablets also kills these parasites. Malaria can be caught by anyone of any age & is a serious disease but it is preventable. As well as taking Atovaquone/ Proguanil Hydrochloride film coated tablets you can also take other steps to avoid being bitten from mosquitoes such as: insect repellent, cover up exposed areas, where light coloured clothing, keep your doors & windows closed.
