The prescience of electrolytes (chlorides, sodium, potassium, calcium & magnesium), is essential for the cellular biochemicalprocesses, & the slight hypotonicity of the solution will always helpto keep the ocular surface in physiological conditions. Oxyal will decompose into oxygen, water & sodium chloride as soonas it makes contact with the eye surface. These substances only occurnaturally in the lacrimal liquid & do not irritate the eye mucousmembrane but will maintain healthy epithelia.
