Drontal Plus has changed, it stil has the same ingredients, Praziquantel, Pyrantel & Febantel, but now it has a new ingredient Drontal meat flavour. Drontal dog wormer can be used from 2 weeks of age & the dosage is one tablet per 10 kilogram bodyweight, Drontal is highly effective against roundworm & tapeworm. We would not recomend Drontal Plus for pregnant bitches & would suggest that you use Panacur 10% liquid dog wormer at the correct dosage level, please contact us if you require any advice on this or any other usage of Drontal or Panacur. Adult dogs should be wormed with Drontal Plus worming tablets every three months unless in farming areas where dogs can be wormed as frequently as every two weeks. Puppies should be wormed with Drontal every two weeks of age until twelve weeks & thereafter every three months. There is a connection between fleas & worming dogs, fleas are often infected wih a larval stage of the flea tapeworm, if your dog swallows an infected flea a worm may develop in the gut, which is a good reason to worm with Drontal Plus for dogs. A dog infected with worms may show some symptoms like irritation of the bottom, which is a sign of tapeworm problems, dragging the bottom across the ground could be your dogs way of telling you their may be a problem. There are a few other signs such as: vomiting, a dull coat, a lack of vitality, perhaps they are off their food or a pot bellied appearance, which would be more common in puppies. If your dog is showing any behaviour you are not absolutely certain about we would suggest you contact your vet as soon as possible. However these signs are not always common, & in the early stages of infection possibly non existent, in fact dogs infected with worms may be showing no signs at all.
