Doxion - The importance of liver health - The liver is a vital body organ performing several key functions, such as the preoduction of hormones, enzymes and proteins. Additionally the liver is responsible for the "detoxification" of substances from the blood stream such as free radicals. In an older dog or cat the natural production of SAMe by the liver is reduced. Studies have shown that as a consequnce many of these animals have lowered levels of glutathione.
