Winner of the race was Luigi Villoresi in the works 4CLT Maserati number 18; who started at the back of the grid with his team-mate Alberto Ascari; who finished second; as their cars had arrived too late to practice. Michael Turner was a young spectator at the race; & has painted the scene for the BRDC to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the circuit.
