For cheap but centrally located accommodation in Rome, take a look at the Hotel Amalfi. The hotel is located on a street that leads to the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, & close to several railway stations (Termini, Vittorio E. & Cavour) so you can easily travel to other sights in the city. Although the rooms at the Hotel Amalfi are a bit small, they are very clean & well maintained. You’ll have your own bathroom, a TV, a direct-dial phone & enjoy air conditioning too. Windows are double-glazed so even if you stay in a street-facing room, you’ll be able to sleep well at night. If you want to wake up late, just close the shutters so you can keep out the sunshine.
