Betacarotene (Vitamin A) is classed as a provitamin or precursor to Vitamin A & is found mainly in vegetables & fruits rather than animal sources. Beta Carotene is commonly found in high levels in carrots, pumpkins, spinach, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, oranges, apricots & peaches. Because Beta Carotene is converted into Vitamin A many of its functions are those of Vitamin A which help promote growth, strong bones, healthy teeth, skin, hair & gums. Betacarotene also helps counter night blindness, weak eyesight & assists the treatment of many eye disorders. Betacarotene also helps build up a resistance to respiratory infections & shortens the duration of diseases. It has also been known to help the removal of age spots.
