The Designer
Dating back to 1926 Miriam Haskell formed her jewellery business by opening a jewellery boutique in The Old Alpin Hotel in New York. Her company with designer Frank Hess was best known as a manufacturer of affordable costume jewellery from the 1920’s to the 1960’s. Within one year she opened a second boutique on West 57th Street.
Haskell’s jewellery was worn by many Hollywood figures including Joan Crawford & Lucille Ball plus notables such as The Duchess of Windsor. This is what makes Haskell’s vintage jewellery so collectible today.
