Mountainous Landscape With Figures Print

The figures within this landscape scene do not relate to a specific story. The figures appear to derive from a work by Rosa entitled 'The Crucifixion of Polycrates' (Chicago, Art Institute). Although once considered to be by Rosa himself, it is now attributed to a later imitator working in his style. An attribution to Filippo d'Angeli (about 1600 - about 1640) has been suggested.
