P51 Mustang Large Scale RC Plane Red PNP Version The P-51 Mustang was a single seater fighter plane, which was designed & built for World War II. The Royal Air Force used it as a fighter bomber, a reconnaissance plane, & as a bomber escort on raids over Germany in 1944. It was powered by a supercharged Rolls Royce Merlin engine & was fitted with six. 50 caliber (12.7 mm) M2 Browning machine guns. Rearward visibility was a problem with WW2 fighter planes & this was solved by using a bubble or teardrop canopy. This new type of canopy was a development in the P-51D version, considered the definitive Mustang, & is the model we have for you here. Dago Red is a P-51 Mustang, restored as a competitive air racer by Frank Taylor in 1981. Dago Red holds several world records, including the 15 km (517.323 mph) set in 1983. It is almost completely built straight out of the box, only a few minutes of minor final assembly steps will be required, plus the extra components which arent included such as the receiver, transmitter, battery & charger to get this legend of the 20th century airbourne. This model is well made, although lightweight, & it is built to be crash resistant, & to give a long life of fun flying. The P-51D is exceedingly stable, & will fly at low speeds, which makes it safe & fun, even for the beginner. It is also possible to fly these planes at low altitude, great for when youre learning so those crashes arent too severe! Like all our Starmax PNP models, the P51 Mustang is built to a very high standard & designed to reflect the looks of the real model faithfully. This model even has retractable undercarriage, & flashing LED lights to add to the realism. It is equipped with a very powerful brushless motor, an ESC & most of the necessary electronics installed. All you need to get this bird airborne is a transmitter, receiver, a Li-po battery & charger.
