The Wilesco Steam Locomobile was used around the turn of the century by farmers for threshing & plowing. It was horse drawn but was also frequently self propelled & was capable of moving under its own steam at speeds of 1.5 to 2.5 miles per hour. This sophisticated steam model has a wealth of technical details & it looks good too in its livery of black combined with brass.
Details: Brass boiler has a diameter of 2.2", length 9.1". This engine has a partitioned smoke chamber at the front for the condensation & to allow the smoke to escape through the chimney, which is hinged in the middle. The sight glass acts as a water gauge. Reversible double action cylinder with two flywheels with a diameter of 3.2" which can be operated in forward & reverse. Exact indicating pressure gauge, spring loaded safety valve, whistle with chain, governor (just for show), steam regulator, steam jet oiler, water drain tap, black varnished boiler house with gangways & ladder. The Wilesco locomobile is driven by a chain & the front axle can be steered. Operating time approx 15 minutes. The model is heated by dry spirit tablets. All parts are either painted or plated.
