Corgi Albatross DVa Ltn Helmut Dilthey, Jasta 40, Mid-1918 (AA37806) Born in Rheydt, Germany on 9th February 1894, Helmut Dilthey first flew two-seat reconnaissance bi-planes on the Eastern Front but rose to prominence flying this Albatross DVa during the latter half of 1917 & the early part of 1918 on the Western Front. His seven aerial victories included a trio of Spad fighters, as well as a Sopwith Triplane, a Sopwith Camel & a Nieuport Scout. He painted his machine in a garish white & green striped livery, the colours of Saxony, while leading Jasta 40 in the opening months of 1918. It was while flying this machine that Dilthey was killed in July 1918 by German ground fire, while attacking an RAF DH9 bomber of 107 Squadron over the frontline in the region of Lille, France.v ...

Corgi Douglas C-47A Skytrain USAF 86th Air Base Group (Neubiberg, Germany, October 1948, Berlin Airlift) (AA38201) During the Berlin Airlift, the United States Air Force 86th Tactical Fighter Wing at Neubiberg air base in West Germany operated a C- 47 Skytrain support aircraft. On 22nd October 1948, as a gift for the children of Berlin, the C-47 was used to fly 7, 000lb (3, 175kg) of confectionery, along with a baby camel called ‘ Clarence’ into Tempelhof airport in the US sector of Berlin. The camel was the mascot of the 525th Fighter Squadron based at Neubiberg & had been bought by a member of the squadron in Tripoli for $50 & shipped to Germany in the bomb bay of a B-26 Invader bomber. When Berlin was besieged the base personnel decided to present both the camel & the sweets to the children as a gesture of goodwill for Christmas. This limited edition model from Corgi is part of the highly collectable Aviation Archive range of die-cast model aircraft. Scales include 1:48, 1:72 & 1:144 & features aeroplanes from World War I, World War II & the modern era. Most models in the Aviation Archive range are limited editions. ...

Corgi Douglas C-47 Dakota (AA38204)

Corgi Douglas C-47 Dakota - RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, Connigsby, Lincs, 2009 (AA38204) Issued to the BBMF in March 1993, the Dakota is a year-round workhorse for the BBMF being used in a variety of roles, including general support tasks, such as transporting ground crew and equipment to display venues or other operating airfields. Importantly, as there are no other multi-engine tailwheel configured aircraft in RAF service outside the BBMF, she is used for training aircraft during the winter months when the bomber is out of action. Increasingly the Dakota has become a display aircraft in her own right and now appears regularly on the airshow circuit either on her own or as part of a BBMF 3-ship formation, in company with a pair of fighters. Dakota ZA947 currently wears
the livery of 267 Pegasus Squadron, which flew in the Transport, Trooping and Re-supply roles in the Middle East and the Mediterranean Theatres during 1943/44. The squadron employed various colour schemes on its Dakotas but always displayed its Pegasus emblem prominently displayed on the aircrafts nose. This limited edition model from Corgi is part of the highly collectable Aviation Archive range of die-cast model aircraft. Scales include 1:48, 1:72 and 1:144 and features aeroplanes from World War I, World War II and the modern era. Most models in the Aviation Archive range are limited editions.
