Sporting a 357cc Snow Thor X 90 engine, specifically designed for use in cold weather and producing 7.4kw of power to propel the blower and drive the clearing mechanisms the MTD ME 76 is a very powerful machine with a number of great operator convenience features. The dual mechanism consists of a robust, durable and metal-toothed auger which revolves and churns up the snow and ice,
breaking it up and pushing it back to the impellor, a second stage rotary blade which finishes the process of breaking up the snow and pushes the stream at speed up and out of a cold-proof, polymer, snow exit chute. The auger is mounted in a snow intake hood with a working height of 53 centimetres for deeper falls of snow, and the clearing width of the auger wide 76 centimetres. The auger is protected from damage by shear bolts and the hood has snow-skids under it, which help it slide and are height adjustable so you can raise the hood, enabling you to clear on gravel, lawns or other uneven surfaces without throwing unwanted material around or causing damage to surface or machine. The fuel tank takes around 4.7 litres, so you can work for longer without having to fill up, and
starting is very easy with the 230v electric start. The six-speed gearbox offer a choice of 4 forward speeds and 2 reverse speeds, giving the freedom to manoeuvre in and out of cul de sacs and awkward spots with ease. Wheels are large and smooth running, with heavy-duty patterned pneumatic tyres to provide extra purchase and handles are comfortable and conveniently placed, as are controls including the dashboard-mounted gear lever. The snow distribution chute is also situated at the instrument panel, remotely controlled from the operating position by a 2-way joystick, a practical and convenient feature, which controls both the 180° rotation, so you can direct the stream away from cleared ground or cars and buildings, and the adjustable pitch, so you can alter the height and range
