Volvo FM Curtainside (Alex Anderson Transport) in Dark Blue (1:50 scale)
- Anderson’s started business in the late 1920s with a one ton Morris lorry, buying & selling rags & bottles & then around 1950 they started to haul pit props from local sawmills to collieries. The pit prop ends were chopped up & sold for firewood & the sawdust from this was sold for use on public house floors.
Towards the end of the 1950s, the company started selling bulk sawdust & wood shavings to poultry farms & chipboard factories, which they are still doing today, along with wood shavings in bales, which was started in 1975. These wood shavings are baled in the Anderson factory at Bo’ness. Since 1975 the company has purchased solely Volvo trucks.
