Ford Cortina Mk III 2.0 GXL in Green (1:43 scale)
- Until the Mk III Cortina’s midlife facelift in autumn 1973, when the more luxurious 2000E was introduced, the sporty GXL model was the top of the range & most desirable Cortina, with its contoured sports wheels, twin headlights, vinyl roof, new OHC Pinto engine & German designed 4-speed manual gearbox. The car modelled was used by Ford for publicity purposes, appearing on the front cover of the 1972 model year ‘ The Cortina has all the answers’ brochure. The Mk III was replaced in summer 1976, after 1, 126, 559 cars had been produced, although its floorpan & mechanical architecture were carried over to the Mk 4.
