It"s been 40 years since Steve Mc Queen first took us on the ride of our lives, now you can recapture the white-knuckle excitement with the new 2-car 1/64th box set of the 1968 Mustang of Steve Mc Queen & the Dodge Charger from the movie Bullitt. The chase sequence from the Steve Mc Queen classic Bullitt took viewers on the ride of their lives & established Mc Queen as the undisputed King of Cool.
Mc Queen himself was the force behind the most talked about scene in Bullitt. Determined to shoot the best car chase ever, the finest stunt coordinators & drivers in the motion picture industry were used to >choreograph> & perform the nine+ minute turbo charged chase, to the accompaniment of squealing brakes, growling exhausts & grating of gears. The entire sequence took three weeks to film, with Mc Queen himself behind the wheel through much of the chase. Unlike classic film chases of the past, traditionally filmed at slow speeds & then sped up by the editor, there were no special effects employed in the Bullitt chase sequence. What you see is what you get. The cars were shot at real-time speeds, frequently clocked at 124mph!
