Brooklin Models 1:43 Bristol 406 Diecast Model Car LDM90A The Bristol 406 which was introduced in 1957 had completely new styling which lacked the rounded looks of its predecessor. It was also the last Bristol to employ the well tried 6 cylinder engine, albeit in modified form, before American V8 power took over. The same basic body design with subtle modiciations would last right through to the 411. ...

Corgi 1:72 Bristol Beaufighter TF.X RAF 144 Sqn 1944 Diecast Model Airplane COR 28601AA As one of the most capable twin engined aircraft of WWII, the Bristol Beaufighter was originally developed as a heavy fighter variant of the company’s Beaufort bomber, already in service with the Royal Air Force. The first examples were pressed into service as nightfighters & whilst the aircraft proved to be a significant improvement over existing types, there was more to come from the mighty beau. As the aircraft received successive upgrades to make it more powerful & capable of carrying a greater array of offensive weaponry, the Beaufighter became a successful multi-role aircraft, with a particular flair for mounting hard hitting anti-shipping strikes into the North Sea, preventing Axis shipping from moving supplies back to Germany. It was during one of these missions that Banff based Flying Officer Maurice Exton was awarded a DFC for outstanding flying skill & determination in the face of the enemy. Flying Beaufighter NE829 on 9th October 1944, Exton & his squadron attacked a large convoy of enemy vessels off the coast of Norway, but his aircraft was hit by heavy flak from the ships. Damaging the aircraft’s flight controls, causing it to almost flip onto its back, Exton wrestled with the Beaufighter’s control column, bringing it back straight & level, before immediately pressing home his attack. He then nursed the damaged aircraft back to Banff, where he managed to land safely. Inflicting heavy damage on the enemy convoy they attacked, this incident says as much about the determination of the airmen of Coastal Command as it does about the resilience of the Bristol Beaufighter. ...

Bristol Beaufighter Mk 21 A8-116 (RAAF 93 Sqn `Green Ghost`) (1:72 scale) - General Background The Bristol Beaufighter was developed in about 8 months by using sections from the earlier designed Bristol Beaufort. It was given more powerful engines and a variety of modifications making the aircraft capable of many tasks. It was a night fighter, fighter bomber and torpedo bomber performing anti-shipping duty as well as ground attack and long range interdiction. The different variants, 14 in all, were capable of carrying bombs, torpedoes, rockets, canons and machine guns. The Beaufighter was operated by 11 countries. The Aircraft The 93rd Squadron was formed on January 22 1945 without an official name or motto. So unofficially it became the “Green Ghost Squadron” and the unofficial
